Many thanks to the most awesome gogmagogical and The New Wave Of Thrash Metal Blog, we were recently tipped-off (via Twitter) about a crazy wicked killer new garage metal band from Kansas City – by the name of FASTER THAN HELL.
Comprised of members Kriss Ward, Mike Rooney, Mike Farren, and Ryan Marchman – these guys are making that kind of high-speed heavy rawk n’ roll radness akin to bands like MOTORHEAD, ZEKE, and NEW BOMB TURKS. The songs are hellaciously fast, hellaciously fun, and just a damn good rawkin’ time. The band puts it much more eloquently on their ReverbNation Bio:
“FASTER THAN HELL is Garage Metal from Kansas City, Missouri. Guitars, Drums, Bass and mad ramblings of outlaws, booze and bad women. One in the chamber and four on the floor!!” – FTH/ReverbNation

FASTER THAN HELL is fronted by Kriss Ward – “The Mexican Sundial.” Kriss also runs double duty playing the drums in FEDERATION OF HORSEPOWER – a similarly oriented K.C. rawk band focused on themes of “fast cars, late nights in smokey back rooms, the smell of stale beer and cigarette smoke, sin, redemption and more sin.” You can check out one of their vids below and catch-up with even more HORSEPOWER HERE.
FASTER THAN HELL have actually been jammin’ together since mid to late 2010 (yeah, we know…we’re sucky late to the party sometimes, but late is still better than never). The band self-released its first self-titled debut in January 2011, and soon after began tearing-up KCMO venues like The Brick and The Riot Room, along with various shows out and about the Midwest.
In October 2011, the band released its first music video for “Nothing To Lose” (below). The track is actually the third track on the debut album. But damn if it doesn’t make for a great lead-off single, too.
We’re not going to spend a whole lot of time reviewing the record, or gushing on about this band. Gogs has us pinned-down pretty good over here. And when he recommended the band to us, we knew right away it was something we had to check-out immediately.
If you’re into the whole endorsements thing, I guess you could say it didn’t take FTH very long to have earned ours. The music here pretty much speaks for itself, and it really doesn’t need a whole lot of extra commentary. These guys kick ass. Period. And we’ll be highly recommendin’em in the months and years to come. Here is more from the debut self-titled album via the band’s ReverbNation page. And HERE is a cool little write-up from Nick over at The Pitch.
Prit-tee dang darg-arn badass, right?
