Austin’s very own GRAND CHAMPEEN was also among the openers for the NEW BOMB TURKS last weekend at Red 7. The ‘PEEN has been GRAND jammin’ and giggin’ around for several years now. And they play that kind of classic old school rock n’ roll that might remind one of bands like THE REPLACEMENTS or even THE ROLLING STONES (they definitely have plenty of their own grittier proto-punkier moments, just as well).
While I’m not entirely sure what the band’s recent/current plans are in terms of recording or touring, it was pretty damn sweet to catch ‘em on this “one-off” show of sorts, with the almighty TURKS. Just a great band of guys, playing some great rock and roll music. Here’s a few snaps from the show on November 12 and some extra bitties.
