I‘ve stewed and brewed…about writing some type of long-winded review/tribute monologue about my whole FFF6 2011 Festival experience. And I’ve got more than plenty to talk about it all. It was quite entirely, totally off the white cliffs of Dover. But let’s face it, many other writers, bloggers, photographers, and media-folk have already beaten us to that punch. So, in the better interest of brevity, what you see below is an aggregation of many hours and several days worth of human still-hand shooting, cropping, editing, compiling, and presenting [what I felt was] the best of what I was able to capture (from our points of vantage) at FFF6 2011.
For a small indie, I don’t think we did all too shabby. And among the many, many fond memories I’ll have from this festival – one of the first ones will forever be about how f*cking wore out I was for the entire next week solid (dammit it sucks getting old).
Festival nostalgia seems to work best when you’re three-sheets to the wind somewhere in the middle of a fire-blazing pit of PBRs and a kettle of kindred souls. So, I’m not gonna wax on about it, here. Not right now. We’ll just hope the pics and vids can stand and do the talking – on their own. For when the right words would undoubtedly fail us (and they most usually do in my case) – I’ve learned to just let the MUSIC speak.

Final Random [Ten] RTs???
- Well, for starters, I’ve been to a pile of Festivals in my lifetime. And this one, by FAR, still sits atop my list of most favs. Hands down. No friggin’ question. Period.
- Yes, I totally had lunch on Saturday with members of THE DAMNED. It was royally bad ass. As much as you’d like to interview or photograph or otherwise somehow document stuff sometimes – there are certain times when the moment just dictates that you forget about your shitty cameras, and phones, and DVRs and whatever the hell else.

Captain Sensible – THE DAMNED
4 Stages; 3 of them split in two; side-shows; vendors; artists; comedians; fans; wrasslers; weddings; tech; skating; bikes; tricks; extra-curriculars; food galore; beer galore; etc.; etc.; and more unbelievably great live music jam-packed into 3 solid days of non-stop un-holy hell (and even more after-shows galore at night). It’s more than one could ever quite possibly ever imagine. And it’s complete insanity the entire time. And I absolutely have every amount of understanding for those who, quite literally, experience extended periods of withdrawal and/or Postmortem depression (pun intended). I did.
- Yes, Glenn Danzig was a total god damned bastard bitch from Bitchville.
- Yes, the dirty dusty shitty windstorms were a royal pain in the ass-end. But it was every damm bit worth it.
- Brant Bjork did not perform at FFF6 2011. But you should totally buy every record from every band he has played or plays in (Hint to 2012 FFF bookers).
- CAMAROSMITH did not perform at the Festival, either. But you should totally buy every record that they’ve ever made (Hint to 2012 FFF bookers).
- Most favorites from the Fest? Of the ones that I was actually lucky enough to see and absorb long enough (minus the SLAYER, THE DAMNED, HOT SNAKES, MCD, ROLLINS, etc. obvious): HEARTLESS BASTARDS, WORLD/INFERNO, THEE OH SEES, RUSSIAN CIRCLES, DOOMRIDERS, and CAVE IN. I hadn’t heard of any of these bands, previously (a bit of WORLD/INFERNO and CAVE IN – but not very much), and Every. Single. One of them. Blew my friggin’ drawls off (And BORIS, too. And BJL & the HONEYBEARS. And THE JOY FORMIDABLE, too. And everybody else I saw, for that matter).

Yes, there was a SLAYER dog grubbin’ for $6.66.
- Yes, captain wonderboy Ryan Gosling was all over the friggin’ place.
- Yes, you can totally walk right by a pile of other famous musicians, celebrities, and craziness – all weekend long – and not even realize it.
- No, it’s not really a gang warfare waste-land (although it would definitely appear as such). Look, I’m getting sick and tired of the bandanas, the shitty neon hipster sunglasses, haircuts, and everything else in between, too. But, quite honestly – it really was like a god damb dust-bowl. And it was pretty much of a son of a bitch to deal with. Especially on Saturday (and especially if you were trying to photog).
- I’d do it all over again next weekend, and the next weekend, and the weekend after that – in a minute (ah well…I guess that’s why we have The Mohawk, and Red 7, and MISPRINT, and beards, and Beerland, and every other god blessed thing else).
- This festival is every bit of badass that the “critics” will write about in the “media.” You should absolutely make it a priority to attend. Every. Single. Stinking. Year.
