Many thanks to Teresa B. for snapping (and allowing me to borrow) this photo of Michael from the HOB show in Chicago on 3.27.11. It’s always a joy to connect with kindred souls through the amazing powers of music. Of all of the Volbeat photos we took from Dallas and Houston, I never got a decent single one of Michael with a guitar frontal. The Guitar Gangster
Michael plays a custom Gibson SG GT model guitar. David Neely has some great photos of the exact model over on this flickr photostream. It’s an absolute beauty (check out this killer candy orange one, too, from 2006).
The SG GT model is a rare and hard to find model Gibson (they’ve since discontinued making new models). Personally, I’ve never had the chance to play one. But from what I can gather, they’re an absolute delight. And based solely on whatever Michael happens to have his GT rigged-up with, I have no problem giving this bad mofo an RT 5-Star stamp of approval.
